Arm Safety

“Your kid's arm is not a learning opportunity.”

How the WBL protects every player on every field, every day.

  • Every Game Audited
  • No Warning System
  • Mandatory Rest

The WBL Commitment

Every WBL game gets reviewed. After every game, we pull the GameChanger box scores from both teams and cross-check the pitch counts independently. Every game. Every day. No exceptions.

When a pitcher goes over the limit for his age group, the head coach gets a one game suspension. We do not issue warnings. We chose that on purpose, because a warning system tells coaches the first overuse is free, and your kid's elbow is not free.

How the WBL protects players

Daily Limits and Required Rest

Every age group has a daily pitch maximum. Required rest scales with how many pitches were thrown. Two consecutive days maximum, then mandatory rest.

For Parents

Three things every WBL parent should know.

  1. Ask How Pitches Get Tracked

You have every right to know how the team tracks pitches. There is more than one right answer. A dedicated person on the bench whose only job is the pitch count works. A scorekeeper communicating counts to the coach in real time also works. What does not work is "we will figure it out as we go."

  2. Pain Is the Sign

Arm pain during or after throwing, soreness that lingers, or a change in throwing motion means rest and a doctor. Not one more inning. The kids who throw through pain are the kids who end up in surgery in high school. We see it every year, and it is heartbreaking and avoidable.

  3. Speak Up If Something Is Off

If you see a coach pushing past a pitch limit, conduct that does not belong on a youth field, or anything else that concerns you, tell us. Every report gets read. We cannot fix what we do not know about.

See Something? Say Something.

Reports go directly to the WBL board. We read every one.
