WBL Divisions - Levels of Play
AAA - GOLD/SILVER DIVISIONS

This is an open division with teams being formed from any area. Each team will be required to register with one of the participating leagues or proved a sponsorship from any organized baseball league and approved by the WBL. Participation in these leagues is at the discretion of the WBL executive board.

The purpose of this division will be the top-level teams and only those teams who have an established resume will be approved to play in this league and division. Teams who are not selected for the gold division will be placed in the Silver Division of AAA.

Teams who wish to play in the gold division will be selected based on multiple selections process. Teams who do not get selected into the gold division will play in the silver division. The Selection process will include the following:

Coaches Ranking – Coaches will rank all teams from top to bottom at coaches meeting in January.

Final decisions will be made by the Wasatch Baseball Executive board.

Participation in some hosted leagues may require players to be part of the local area. Some leagues can and may require up to 6 or the 9 players from a team to be residents of the city. Please contact the hosting league who you are wishing to play with for additional details. These rules are set by the cities who run the parks and may be part of the field leases.

Teams who fall in the lowest end of the age group each year "may" not be approved to return for the following year. This will be based on availability. The goal is to provide the highest level of competition in the divisions.

Regular season will consist of 12 games. Games will be played 50% home and 50% away. There will be a post season tournament consisting of a double elimination tournament to determine the AAA Gold and Silver Division state champion. Results from the regular season will determine seeding for the year end tournament.

Bats in this division from ages 8U up to 12U can be USA baseball, or USSSA stamped BPF 1.15 - Any bat that has been Withdrawn/Disallowed will no longer be permitted for use on any league or post season game. We will use the list provided by USSSA baseball https://www.usssa.com/baseball/baseball-withdrawn-andor-non-compliant-baseball-bat-models . For 13U divisions bat will only be allowed a max of drop 8 or -8. In 14U BBCOR bats will be the only approved bat.

Complete Rosters are required and will need to be turned into the WBL before March 15th. Players can only be on one team roster. There will be a max of 15 players per team. Any changes to roster need to be approved by the WBL Board prior to any game. Only Players from Single A Division teams can be used for substitution if need to fill a team due to illness or absence of regular roster players. Players who are not on any WBL league rosters are not eligible for play at any time in Wasatch Baseball league. Teams who are found to violate this rule can face team discipline up to and including removal from play for the remainder of the season. Any coach or team admin who makes changes to team rosters in Game changer will serve a 3-game suspension for first offense. Any further offense can result in additional suspension up to possible removal from WBL.

Only players on a team’s roster and who have played 50% of scheduled league games will be eligible for post season play.

Baseballs - Home team will be required to provide 2 new and one lightly used baseballs per home game. Approved baseballs are Wilson A1010S or Diamond DOL-A. 2 dozen new balls will be provided at the start of the season by WBL or hosting league to each head coach.

Umpires - The hosting league/Team will provide and pay umpires for each game. Each game will be required 2 age appropriate umpires a plate and a base umpire for each game. It is the responsibility of the hosting team/league to insure the proper rules and training of the umpires.

Scheduling - Team blackout dates will need to be provide by Feb 28th to the WBL scheduler. Max of 10 Blackout dates will be accepted. Black-out dates are only for tournaments that teams are traveling to. Blackout dates are not guaranteed but we will make every effort in our scheduling to grant black-out dates. Any schedule change requests will require a $50.00 fee paid to WBL before the request will be considered. All rain out games will be rescheduled by the league per blacked out dates and requests at the start of the season. Any games that have not been played or made up by June 15th will not be made up.

Team Resume is "Required" - Tournaments played in previous year, Tournament results prior year, League results for previous year, Roster of returning players from previous year.

Team acceptance will be reviewed and approved by the executive board of WBL. Any team can be refused at the discretion of the executive board.

Fees will be collected and paid to the WBL for teams that are coming to play from a non WBL affiliated league. Those fees will be used for - year end tournament fees (umpires and field usage fees), baseballs, and awards for winning teams.

8U-14U - $650.00

Keep in mind this is in addition to what the local league will charge for Insurance, background checks, umpires and field usage for the games that will be played at those parks.

Team Fees need to be paid to Wasatch baseball prior to coaches meeting to be held in January.

Teams outside of our WBL associated leagues who want to play and are sponsored by an organized league will be required to submit the following as part of their team application:

Coaches Background Check - Required hosting league or team to provide proof of background check for every coach

Team Insurance - Proof of team or league provided insurance

Field Usage Agreement - Each team will be required to provide one field each week for a single game. The field will need to be available every week during the regular season on the night provided Monday -Friday. For example, every Tuesday night all season the team will be required one field be availability for a game to be played. The team may be asked to provide a night based on another league availability. We cannot all play on the same 2 nights at every park all year and teams may be asked to provide a different night. Each week will need to remain available to accommodate possible rain-out games that will be rescheduled.

SINGLE A - REC/DRAFTED DIVISION
- Teams will be comprised of 100% league boundary approved players. All players will be drafted to the selected team using each league approved drafting processes. Each league draft process will be reviewed by the Wasatch baseball competition committee
- Leagues may choose to freeze coaches and assistant coaches’ players up to 3 players in total.
- These teams will all participate in local league play as subject to each league playing rules and bylaws.
- Bats to be used in the division may be USSSA, USA BAT or BBCOR. Exact standards can be found on our rules page.
- End of season tournament - The 8U, Minor and Major 1st and 2nd place teams in each league will compete in the Wasatch Walk Off tournament to take place in June. The top 10 teams from 13U, 15U and 18U will also compete in the Wasatch Walk Off tournament.
- This division will provide an All-Star experience for players who are interested and select by individual league selection process. All Star tournament will be comprised of a 3-game pool play followed by single elimination tournament.
- Players who have participated in 50% of their scheduled league games are eligible for All Star/Post season play.
- Uniform is open to league to decide. Coaches will be required to wear matching shirt and pant/shorts for post season/all-star play
- All-star play- leagues will pay Wasatch Baseball for tournament fees. Fees will be determined by the board and will include fees for umpires, baseballs, winning team awards.
- All Star tournament will include 3 pool play games followed by Silver/Gold level single elimination tournament. Pool play will determine seeding. All Star tournament should take place near the end of June each year.
- Post season play teams will be required to bat all/play all rostered players.
